SHEFFIELD MUSIC CITY LAUNCH PARTY:  AN EVENING OF EASTERN PROMISE

 

Presenter, actress and shimmering dance sensation from ITV’s ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ Sophie Mei and My Social Events host the launch party for Sheffield’s Music City at The Showroom Cinema, Paternoster Row Sheffield S1 2BX.  

 

The Arabic music evening of ‘Eastern promise’ is 7.30pm for 8.00pm start, and is a fun social-business networking event with a difference including: Arabic music,  DJs, lots of entertainment and mouth-watering Arabic food.

 

The evening consists of an all-you-can eat Arabic buffet, streetdancers, bellydancers, an acoustic drumming set along with top DJ’s to dance the night away!

 

This is a fabulous opportunity to celebrate the launch of what is sure to be Sheffield’s biggest ever festival – Sheffield Music City!

 

Taking place in The Showroom’s bar and cafe, this event will also raise money for Hallam FM’s Cash For Kids. 

 

Along with twenty-one year old Sheffielder Sophie Mei, who will host the evening, Sheffield based Boomshanka bellydance troupe, Gemini School of dance, drummer Ahmed Al – aagam and top DJ Pablo Clark will provide the evening’s entertainment.

 

This exciting evening forms part of the Sheffield City Centre’s Wednesday Night Live schedule, which runs from 3 June – 16 September offering visitors deals on bars, food, entertainment and transport, between the hours of 5pm-8pm.

 

Performer Sophie Mei, who has just returned from a performance in Dubai, says:

 

“When I first heard about Sheffield Music City I just knew we had to be involved! It’s a fantastic opportunity for Sheffield’s entertainment industry and its business community. It’s important that we all join forces to put Sheffield on the map and this evening will provide top-quality entertainment from tribal bellydancers to Arabic drumming.”

 

Managing Director of Sheffield-based My Social Events, Tracey Owen says: 

 

“We are very excited that we are involved with the launch party of Sheffield Music City. This is a fantastic event for Sheffield to celebrate music and bring people from the city together, at free events. The event is free however tickets are available at only £10 each, to include food.

Sophie Mei – Performer, Presenter and Actress

‘Sophie Mei’ facilitates and promotes glamorous, fun and innovative ideas. Connecting and promoting Sheffield’s creative art scene nationally, from make-up art workshops to film premieres. Sophie works closely with the local community, businesses and the media.

At the incredibly tender age of 19 years old, Sophie Mei catapulted to stardom thanks to her success on the popular TV show “Britain’s got talent”. Her determination and gifted ability in belly dancing saw her reach the semi-finals gaining her accolades from all around the world. Simon Cowell can be quoted in saying Sophie has “Absolute star quality”

Not one to rest on her laurels, Sophie is also an established teacher in the art of belly dancing as well as developing her skills in acting and presenting. She’s gained experience in taking lead roles in promotional DVDs and presenting her very own documentary in Egypt for Yorkshire Television.

Sophie has trained extensively with Sheffield Theatres, with Contact Manchester as well as workshops at RADA, SKY Television and the Third Angel Theatre Company.

As if that wasn’t enough to be keeping her extremely busy she is also studying at the University of Manchester for a degree in philosophy and Italian to lay strong foundations for her career in the media industry.
