Girl Guiding UK – Sophie Mei becomes an ambassador

As you may be aware Girlguiding UK is celebrating its Centenary this year, with local celebrations starting in Sheffield’s Peace Gardens on Saturday 5th September 2009.

To coincide with the start of our centenary celebrations, we are pleased to announce the appointment of 2 new Guiding Ambassadors – BBC Radio Sheffield’s Rony Robinson and Sheffield’s bellydancing sensation – Sophie Mei

Ambassadors are friends of Girlguiding UK who promote us among colleagues, friends and the public. Within their particular fields of contacts or expertise, they can support guiding by opening up avenues of contact or areas of opportunity on behalf of Girlguiding UK.

Girlguiding is the UK’s largest voluntary organisation for girls & young women with over half a million members nationwide and with nearly 4000 members in Sheffield alone.

Guiding is about having fun and making a difference.
It’s about adventure and enjoyment – encouraging girls to be the best they can be and helping them to develop into confident women of tomorrow.
It’s open and inclusive, with girls and young women from all cultures and backgrounds.
Guiding is about offering girls and young women opportunities to try new things in a fun and safe environment.
Guiding is about developing girls and young women to their full potential, making new friends and fun.
Both of our new Guiding Ambassador’s have been appointed as people who are positive role models for our young members and who embody the positive, ‘can-do’ characteristics of Girlguiding. We are delighted to welcome them to our team and know they will help to make a real difference as we begin our centenary celebrations.
