If you’re like me, it’s that dreaded time of year again, you’re single and EVERYONE else appears loved up. (Even if they’re not – they look it!)

Well, I’m celebrating V-day early – Friday night. Louise (my best friend/business partner) and I, are going to K-Pasa, Sheffield – to guzzle on some gorgeous Mexican-Italian food and I’ll make sure Louise drinks a glass or two.

Then, there’s no staying in for us on 14th Feburary as it also marks Chinese New Year – Kong Hey Fatt Choy! So I will be having DIm Sum for dinner for my lovely friend , Katy Thompson’s birthday, after watching the Six Nations Rugby – England Vs Italia – Vai vai vai Inghilterra!

So not at all a glum time! And Chinese New Year = family meals and Ang pows!! (Red packets with money in them)

About Valentine’s Day – Interesting Facts

Dinners, Diamonds and Cards are the staples of Valentine’s Day – but did you know that women used to be thrashed with furry leather strips that represented the she-wolf Lupus to create fertility?  Or that the Roman Emperor Claudius banned his soldiers from marrying only to have Saint Valentine defy him to marry couples together in wedded bliss?

On the day Saint Valentine was executed – 14 February – the newly wedded couples passed flowers and notes of thanks to him through the bars of his cell.  He is also rumoured to have fallen in love with the daughter of his jailor and to have sent her a note on his execution day signing it: ‘From Your Valentine’ which is where the phrase is meant to have originated.
